1) What is Counterpoint and why is it important?

In the first few centuries AD, the word "Counterpoint" meant "point against
point", or "written note against written note, of two or more Parallel
Melodies, resulting in Harmony". "Counterpoint" is therefore the origin and
corner stone of "Harmony", so to study Harmony without also studying
Counterpoint, is only learning part of the picture. (You can't be a
Mathematician if you don't know what numbers are and how to count them.)

The proper name of "the Study of Harmony and all the other Technical Things
in Music" is "Music Theory" in the USA, while most of the rest of the world
calls it "Musicology". (In the USA the term "Musicology" is used to refer
more to "the Evolution of Harmony".) No one is considered to hold a VALID
Degree in Music Theory, unless it includes Counterpoint.

It is customary in All Major Music Schools for the "Head Composer" to also
be the "Head of the Music Theory Department", and anyone who does NOT have
Credentials in Counterpoint can NOT, by the "Head" of a Music Theory
Department. It would be like hiring a Head Surgeon for a Teaching Hospital,
if you Knew that he had NEVER studied Anatomy!

From the Late 1400's onward, the Definition of Counterpoint matured and now
specifically means "the writing of Canons and Fugues" (pronounced as
fyewggs). Counterpoint can be written in any mood (from happy to sad), in
many styles (from Bach to Ragtime, Jazz, Rock or Abstract Modern Classical),
and can be scored for any combination of instruments or singing voices. But
by definition Counterpoint must use at least Two Melody Lines to oppose,
overlap, intertwine and/or follow each other.

Once a composer has studied Counterpoint, they are usually left with a Sense
of Discipline and Maturity, that is obvious in all of their compositions
from then onward, even if they never write actual canons and fugues in their
music. For example, both Mozart and Béla Bartók wrote only a few Full Canons
and Full Fugues each, but each wrote hundreds of Short Canonic Passages in
their works. A Music Theorist immediately notices that, while the public
sits there, oblivious to the presence or absence of Clever Counterpoint.

Another good example of the Use or Absence of Counterpoint is the piano
music of Frederic Chopin (1810-1849) and Franz Liszt (1811-1886), who wrote
in very similar styles to each other. Both had Advanced Training in Music
Theory and Counterpoint, and both wrote emotionally very mature, very
flowery, "virtuoso" ("master player") level Piano Music. But Chopin was
NEVER able to write Canons, nor Fugues, in his music, while Liszt DID write
a few, and they were Very Impressive! (See the Liszt B Minor Piano Sonata,
which ends in a huge, very chromatic, highly dramatic, fugue.) No one has
ever condemned Chopin for his Lack of Counterpoint, because he was Greatly
Advancing Piano Virtuosity, and showed a lot of Maturity in his Harmony and
other Compositional Skills.

"Layering" is what Counterpoint-Illiterate Popular Music writers use,
instead of True Counterpoint, because it can easily be Improvised by
Music-Theory-Illiterate players. "Layering" is done by having one percussion
instrument play a simple rhythm, often just a 4/4 Meter Pattern, that keeps
repeating. Then a second percussion instrument joins in with another simple
rhythm, usually just the Off Beats in 4/4 Meter, that also keeps repeating.
A few bars later a third follows, filling in the rhythmic gaps, and maybe a
fourth instrument or more will start, each playing very simple, repeating
rhythms.

While Popular Music Fans are impressed by Layering, Contrapuntists can feel
insulted by its Babyish Simplicity. It is like being expected to be
impressed with Plastic Rhinestones, if you are used to studying Real
Diamonds.

The closest thing to Counterpoint that Daniel Asia has ever written, is his
"Second Symphony", named "Celebration". By his own admission, like ALL of
his music, it has ZERO Counterpoint, but he is very proud of all the
Layering he uses in it! All the Arizona Officials are smugly proud of it,
while Music Theorists around the world are laughing at Daniel Asia and the
Americans!

The term "Popular Music" was coined in the Late Middle Ages to mean "music
written by and for Music-Theory-Illiterate people", which is still true
today. So by definition, Advanced Counterpoint is ABSENT in "Popular Music",
unless it was written by a highly-schooled composer, deliberately writing in
a Popular Music Style.

As a Big Fan of Counterpoint, I, Bear Woodson, can't help but find the LACK
of Counterpoint in Popular Music to be always disappointing.

2) Explain why the University of Arizona in Tucson would hire and promote a
Counterpoint-Illiterate like Daniel Asia to be the "Head of Music Theory and
Composition", and destroy the life of a Counterpoint-Master Student?

The short answer is MONEY.

The State of Arizona wanted to hire a Famous Composer, and Daniel Asia was
the closest thing to it. But since EVERY University of Arizona Official and
EVERY Arizona Politician is a "Music-Theory-Illiterate" and
"Counterpoint-Illiterate", they were, and still are, TOO DUMB to know that
they now look like IDIOTS in the eyes of Every Major Music School around the
world! When Daniel Asia got hired there in 1988, it was like he showed of
bunch of "Gemology-Illiterates" a plastic rhinestone, and tricking them into
believing he is the Hope Diamond!

If this Scandal were ever made public, the 3 Arizona Universities and
Tourism for the whole State of Arizona, would LOSE MILLIONS of Dollars!

Intellectual students would not come here for school, especially knowing
that the University and Arizona Politicians jointly destroyed the life of
Dr. Marguerite Kay and about ten other "star students". They also destroyed
to life of a Reporter, Robert Nelson, who tried to expose the Corruption
against Dr. Kay, also had to go into hiding. In recent years, both are
Missing, and no one can confirm that both weren't Murdered!

Dr. Marguerite Kay was a genius doing Research to try to cure Alzheimer's,
but Dr. Peter Likins, who was the University of Arizona President then,
STOLE her government grant money. He then also Stole her Alzheimer's
Research, claiming that she had stolen the University's Discoveries, and
sold her Research to a European Pharmaceutical Company, keeping the profits
for himself. The only question now is, did Dr. Peter Likins PAY or
INTIMIDATE then Governor Janet Napolitano and ALL Other Arizona Politicians
since then, to join his cause to Protect these Crimes and the Secret of the
University of Arizona's UNDER-Credentialed Professors!

I was born with a rare genetic trait (Thalassemia Minor) that causes
massive, irreversible Liver Damage, which kills many infant boys, as it did
my brother. True to this syndrome, I had ulcers and gall stones beginning in
infancy, and Nine Episodes of Jaundice from Hepatitis by my Mid-30's.

But at age 43, almost 13 years ago, just before beginning my Second Year of
Doctoral Studies as a Composer at the University in Tucson, I was diagnosed
with "Adult Onset Diabetes" ("Type 2 Diabetes").

Now having a Bad Pancreas added to my Bad Liver began causing "Diabetic
Black-Outs". Each Black-Out begins with a Diabetic "Crash", or "sudden large
drop in Blood Sugar Levels, often low enough to risk Coma or Death within
minutes". I quickly eat and drink sugar, to keep from dying, but then go
Unconscious even faster. I am always Unconscious for an hour or longer,
sometimes as long as 8 hours. When I wake up, I have a severe headache and
muscle cramps lasting for days, but the most inconvenient fact is the 24 to
48 Hours of Amnesia Surrounding each Unconscious Episode.

Since I was divorced and living alone, I wasn't even sure that they were
happening, except that I was sometimes Missing Memory of a Whole Day! In
1998 and 1999, I had 2 Diabetic Black-Outs in public in each of those years,
with Paramedic Records to prove all 4 of them. One Black-Out during each of
those years, happened INSIDE the University's Music Building. The one on
Thursday, October 28, 1999 was witnessed by several music students and
Professor Daniel Asia, who later denied knowing anything about it, contrary
to the Paramedic Records! But the Corrupt University Officials and EVERY
Arizona Politician went along with his Denial, to protect their
UNDER-Credentialed Professor!

On August 5, 1999 the university gave me "Disability Parking Hanger" #
9761946 W2. During that year I met the University's Disability Department
people on 5 different occasions to re-sign papers for a "Disability
Accommodation". It said that I could "stay home, to not risk an unconscious
episode while driving to and from the university, as long as I got my
homework turned in on time".

To get an 'A', it was required that Composers write "at least one small
piece of music each semester, for at least one instrument, and more music
would guarantee a more solid A". I was not only writing an Unaccompanied
Piece each semester, but I broke several World Records by also writing HUGE
Major Works EVERY Semester! That included 2 Full Concerti and I Invented 2
NEW Kinds of Fugues! But at that point I was THROWN OUT of the university
"for the Crime of Writing Concertos".

In classical music, a "Concerto" is a "Symphony with a virtuoso-level Solo
Instrument", but EVERY University Official and Arizona Politician was Too
Uneducated or Corrupt to admit that anywhere else on earth, I would have
been praised as a National Hero!

After Johann Sebastian Bach died in 1750, No One could Invent a NEW Kind of
Fugue for nearly 2 centuries, until Béla Bartók did it in 1936. At first
much of Academia snubbed Bartók, feeling small and jealous of his
achievement, but ultimately Bartók was declared to be a Genius, for having
Invented his ONE New Kind of Fugue. It was the "Changing Meter Fugue" in his
"Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta", which Music Theorists lovingly
nickname as the "Muspac".

The point is, that Bartók set a standard, whereby if someone could Invent
even ONE Entirely NEW Kind of Fugue, they MUST be a Genius! But NO ONE,
worldwide, could Invent another New Kind of Fugue for decades, until, I,
Bear Woodson, did it! So WHY did the Counterpoint-Illiterate Composer Daniel
Asia and the U of A in Tucson, THROW ME OUT after I had Invented TWO New
Kinds of Fugues?

I have continued to experiment and Invent New Kinds of Fugues since then,
and as of Late June 2009, have Invented 26 New Kinds of Fugues! Since only
J.S. Bach arguably might have invented as many as FOUR New Kinds of Fugues,
and was a genius for doing that, what does it say for me, Bear Woodson, at
26!?! And yet the Arizona Officials and Politicians STILL Insist that I was
thrown out of the university for ethical and valid reasons!

After a year of calling the Attorney General of State of Arizona, and being
actively refused by Mr. James Burchell, I finally got a case, # 08022011,
which was summarily white-washed. In 2001 and 2002, the University Officials
BRIBED Two Moron U.S. Department of Education Officials from Denver,
Colorado: Mr. J. Aaron Romine and Ms. Patty Perez. Both of them were TOO
STUPID to know why it was Ridiculous to "flunk a student composer for Crime
of Writing Concertos", let alone understand that Inventing ONE New Kind of
Fugue was Proof of Genius!

Ms. Patty Perez met me, here in Tucson at the Woods Memorial Library, at
2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2002. That nasty little lady actually said
to me on the Audio Tape:

"If all you can write is a concerto, whatever that is, instead of what you
call a '5-chord-wonder popular music song', then you DO deserve to be
flunked out of the university." May her words be remembered forever as proof
of Obvious Bribery, Corruption and Bigotry Against Education by the US
Government!

On Thursday, May 30, 2002, I called Mr. Romine for 1 hour and 45 minutes,
and he called back on Friday, May 31, 2002, and spoke with me for another 45
minutes. Throughout the first conversation, Mr. Romine FRANTICALLY insisted
that he would NOT consider any possible Motive by Professor Daniel Asia to
destroy my career, and dismissed all such evidence that confirmed any
suspicions. He was recording the conversation, and broke the connection at
the one-hour point to switch to a New Recording Tape. He called back,
resumed the conversation and 20 minutes into the second hour of the talk,
begrudgingly admitted that he had been "instructed" to "make my case lose,
no matter how obvious it was" that he had been compromised, vaguely trying
to apologize for destroying my life.

I had begun trying to get Social Security / Disability in 1999, but was
repeatedly refused help by EVERY Arizona Attorney.

In October 2004 I contacted the Tucson Office of Senator John McCain, who at
first promised IN WRITING to help, but within days, he Broke that promise. I
got dozens of musicians from the US, Canada and Eleven European Countries to
write to Mr. Paul Hickman on his staff, but still Senator McCain did
nothing. So on Friday, February 25, 2005, I contacted Mr. Chuck Coolidge of
his Tucson Office, who was rude, and refused to help me! I immediately
phoned his Phoenix Office and the lady secretary specified that Senator
McCain: had given "explicit orders in regards to" Bear Woodson, that Senator
McCain "PERSONALLY KNEW the facts" in my case, regarded me to be a "Musical
Fraud" and "Medical Fraud", angrily REFUSED to Ever help me, and THREATENED
my life, if I ever told anyone what he had done, or tried to contact them
again!

I then contacted New York Senator Hillary Clinton, knowing that she was
competing with McCain for the US Presidency. Her staff wanted desperately to
help me, because they had researched me, and found me to be "Musically
Valid" and "Medially Valid". But within a few weeks, when they presented it
to Hillary Clinton herself, who PERSONALLY VETOED IT! Hillary Clinton has
aggressively opposed me, Bear Woodson, ever since! In late 2009, threatened
to use her Status as the New Secretary of State, to FORBID me to ever get a
Passport to Escape the USA and its Black-List and Corruption!

By November 2005, 6 1/2 yeas into my 8-Year Struggle to get Social Security
/ Disability, I contacted Binder and Binder in New York City. By May 2006
they finally activated my case, but in February 2007, they ran into a wall.
We would have to wait 6 months to 9 years, to actually set foot in a
courtroom with the US Government.

By June 2007, I contacted the newly elected Congresswoman Gabrielle
Giffords, and by July I was in touch with Mr. Daniel Frey, a man who works
on her Staff as an Expert in helping people with Social Security /
Disability problems. He got us the Court Date on Tuesday, August 21, 2007,
and we WON! Judge Norman R. Buls was confused and furious about the Obvious,
Massive Opposition to declaring me as Disabled, when there were mountains of
evidence proving my case!

Also, in July 2005, I sent Sample Scores of the first Nine of my Newly
Invented Fugues to experts in Europe and the US, only to have them
Authenticated as Original and Valid! (I have Not bothered to show the other
14 Newer Kinds of Fugues to anyone, that I've invented since then!)

In November 2008, Mr. Ron Barber, who is also on the Staff of Congresswoman
Gabrielle Giffords, contacted the New University of Arizona President, Dr.
Robert Shelton, to see if I could finally have my Already Completed
Doctorate, that has been Held Hostage for 7 Years. Mr. Barber made it clear
that Dr. Shelton REFUSED to help, and then Mr. Barber sat in silence staring
at me. He knows that I quote people to prove my case, so he didn't say
anything. But the look on Mr. Barber's face made it clear that the
Congresswoman was NOT going to do anything to get my Doctorate, since it
would mean Opposing Corrupt Democratic Politicians, who outrank her in her
Status as a Newly Elected, Junior Congresswoman.

In June 2009, a different spokesperson, for a different Arizona Politician,
precisely said, that their Politician, "has never, and will never, oppose
the Arizona 'Anti-Genius Policy' ", even though that Newly Elected
Politician had promised for years to undo Corruption in Arizona.

And in recent months, another spokesperson for another Arizona Politician
made it clear that the sooner Bear Woodson leaves the USA forever, the
better, even if it means taking on Foreign Citizenship, and becoming a
National Musical Hero for another country!

I've even appealed to J.D. Hayworth, who is running for Senator John
McCain's seat, but he also Refuses to help correct the Arizona Corruption!

There is NO Justice for Bear Woodson, Dr. Marguerite Kay, Reporter Robert
Nelson, nor anyone else who does their best for the USA. Those two
definitely had their lives destroyed and May have been Murdered, and I am
clearly soon to die at their hand.

3) Explain what the politicians have done leading to the impending
Homelessness and Death of Bear Woodson and why?

When they haven't "stonewalled" me with silence, they've told Blatant,
Glaringly Obvious LIES, committed Several Felonies, cheated me at every
turn. And they may have Possibly Committed TWO MURDERS!

By Destroying my Doctorate and Reputation on Medical and Musical subjects, I
am FORCED into Poverty, living on Welfare / Disability, and soon that will
be taken away. I will be FORCED to Go Homeless, knowing that with my
Diabetic Black-Outs happening 5 to 10 times each week, I WILL be DEAD within
2 Days of Going Homeless! How is that not Murder?

I've been REFUSED help from EVERY Arizona Attorney, even the ACLU Offices in
Phoenix and Los Angeles, plus TWICE IN WRITING EACH from Gloria Allred and
Gerry Spence (the Western Attorney in the Buckskin Cowboy Jackets).

There is NO Right to an Attorney for Bear Woodson in the USA, just as there
wasn't for Dr. Marguerite Kay and Reporter Robert Nelson, and both were
likely murdered!

I've been REFUSED help from EVERY Newspaper Reporter and TV Reporter in the
USA and some in Europe on DOZENS of occasions in the last 10 Years! They
included Major Newspapers and Tabloids in: New York, Los Angeles, Boston,
Chicago, Phoenix, Tucson, Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, Seattle, Dallas,
Denver, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., etc., plus magazines like Billboard,
Rolling Stone, National Enquirer, and even "Der Stern" in German!

I've been ignored or actively refused dozens of times by the ALL News
Programs on: ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, CNN, BBC, and ALL the Major Wire Services
of AP, UPI, Reuters, etc.

I've even gone SEVERAL TIMES, and was always Refused by Main Stream Media,
Right-Wingers and Left-Wingers, such as: Bob Woodward, Bill O'Reilly, Rachel
Maddow, Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper, Matt Drudge, Lou Dobbs, the Beltway
Boys, Hannity & Colmes, Geraldo, Ralph Nader, Ross Perot, Dennis Prager,
Michael Moore, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Michael Savage, Oprah, Jerry
Springer, Arianna Huffington, Larry King, even several "Tea Party", "60 Plus
Association" and "Hands Off My Health Care" groups in several cities! A few
office workers, in some of these places, have been nice enough to tell me
over the phone, that their computers show that I've been "Black-Listed" and
that NO ONE in the USA is supposed to help me!

The definition of a conspiracy is when everyone of a group says "no" to the
same thing, for reasons of their own gain. HOW is this US-wide Black-List
NOT the Precise Definition of a Conspiracy?

I've been smeared for life as a "Fraud" in this country, even though the
Facts and the Experts PROVE otherwise.

I've been FORCED into poverty, and soon I will be FORCED into Homelessness
with a Terminal Disease, so Death MUST Follow Soon! How is that Not Murder?

I've had a few Music Experts call me the "Einstein of Counterpoint" and "the
Most Important Martyr to the Cause of Education, since Galileo was sentenced
to life-long house arrest by the Catholic Church".

It was my wish to die free in a new country, but that will never happen now.
Eventually the same Parasitic Politicians will Get Money from my Same Work
that they spent YEARS Oppressing! Since my death by the End of April 2010,
or sooner, is guaranteed, I've already been forced to make arrangements for
My Own Cremation!
